beads of diamonds…

After days of maximum temperature below zero degrees I did a 9km hike in -4C, the winds were bitingly cold, it snowed then entire time…. you could say that it was exactly warm !

I came across this particular spot and there was plenty of water flowing over the waterfall which was great, but what was even better was that all the sub zero temperatures had frozen the fringes of it. With icicles developed upto 3feet longs in some cases it was incredible. Even in the muted light they glistened like jewels.

  1. 9km at -4C……..that’s hardcore. It looks like there’s a big frozen chunk in the middle of the main gush of water just to the right of your name – amazing

    • Just a stroll – a slightly uncomfortable one that’s all, the experience makes it well worth it though. You are spot on Mat – yep some chunks of ice in there 🙂

  2. Brrrrrr……very cool shot, in more ways than one!

  3. worth the effort though mate.

  4. Great image Tony, fantastic detail! I really like the perspective.

    • Thanks Ben – this was an incredibly hard spot to do justice, not only subject but accessibility with steep country and everything icy ! Icicles seem to be so hard to photograph their beauty.
