desert dunes…

Well I’ve still got a massive backlog of work and images to get through from this year. So after a few fertile green spring images I couldn’t go past this image from a pre dawn glow in the deserts of South Australia. It was awesome camping out in the dunes and whilst shooting this scene the very cool howls of some dingoes could be heard from the next line of dunes behind me. BIG, RED and BEAUTIFUL – that’s how I love my dunes !  🙂

  1. Sweet shot mate!

  2. Awesome Tony. You would love Namibia, you must go one day! Big, red dunes heaven, 400 meter tall dunes.

  3. A real beauty Tony

  4. Like the simplicity of this one Tony. The vertical pano is something a little different as well.

  5. I really like the simplicity and striking colour in the shot.

  6. pretty sweet shot Tony.
great composition and amazing colour. love it 🙂

    • Thanks Stephen – I managed 2 images around this moment (other a horizontal pano) just before/as the sun rose then the colours changed though the ripples become more pronounced. Mind you I kept walking around the dunes shooting stuff for about another hour or so !

  7. Definitely like this image Tony. The negative space works well.

    • cheers Luke – yeah I wanted a clean, vibrant minimalist type shot like this for a long time. 🙂

  8. Wicked shot Tony – the reds and the blues compliment each other very, very well!

    • Thanks Tim – It’s a colour overdose to an extent – but that’s what you get when there’s vibrant red sand get hit with some glorious light 🙂
      cheers,

  9. The pre dawn light has so much life in it. The sky blue and orange sand are beautifully complimentary

    • hi Mat – great to see you here, yeah the light is so soft and builds in to a magnificent vibrance, here it is right on the crescendo of the sun breaking the horizon.
