Spring has sprung – finally !
After what has been a traditional South Gippsland winter – wet and relatively cold. One which we haven’t had for about 12years due to a prolonged dry/drought period. This w/e just gone saw temperatures finally crack in to the 20’s again at last, the grass is growing like mad after a good old soaking for a couple of months and it’s great to see the region looking as it should.

Great shot Tone, lovely and green, it was no way near that green in far east gippy, looking very dry. How good is this weather?
hi Tom, yep East gippy’s rain comes later in the year, more so from the east rather than the SW like ours… generally if you are over that way around christmas/new year it’s looking lovely and green, unlike a lot of the southern half of the country at that time.
cheers 🙂
Stunning Tony, mate that looks perfect for a green change
cheers Adrian
hey Adrian, Yes it certainly is a lovely part of the country. 🙂
cheers,
beautiful shot here Tony – looks like the colours of our country – green and gold. I like. I like a lot.
hi Tim,
Well noted with the colours, the late afternoon sun is adding in the yellow tinge, under other light it looks ridiculously vibrant green.
cheers 🙂
That’s better! As you say, that is how it should look.
hey Tim,
The lush green fertile rolling hills of South Gippy is one of the things the region is famous for and unfortunately in the drought/drying climate of the last 12 yrs has seen the period of that shorten to only ~7months of the year. We’ll wait and see how the coming months pan out.
thanks as always 🙂
Nice light and country spring feeling to this image Tony, It has been beautiful spring weather over this way lately but I think summer is coming on quick.
G’day Hodgy,
Thanks for noting the ‘mood’ as I really wanted a light springish, buoyant and prosperous mood. I saw you guys cracked a 30C last week – nice ! It was the arrival of that system that gave us down here the days of low-mid 20’s then storms (see latest post).
cheers,
tone
this shot is just soooooo nice. my dad grew up in the strezlecki ranges and liked this photo a lot too. Very very nicely captures the essence of south gippy
yeah Mat – it’s a pretty gorgeous region as you both know. – Stoked that your old man likes it too. 🙂
