Trilogies of light…

A bit of a change of pace for the old blog, going from the peaceful autumnal tones to the harshness and somewhat beautiful brutality of lightning ! This shot is from about a month ago in the Koo Wee Rup region in far West Gippsland. I dig it for the 3 bolts of lightning centering over the confluence of the 3 roads of traffic trails.

  1. Nice work Tony, I like the balance of the strikes and the car streaks, its filled what could have been a black spot for you and added to your shot, good work mate.

    • hey Casey,
Yeah it’s one of those successful concepts, I’m happy with it as an image.

      cheers,

  2. nice dude i love it

    • thanks Philbo ! I can’t wait to see some of your images from the vicco trip mate 🙂

  3. wow, man, nice work. wish i could get a lightning photo like this!

    • hey Beau,
thanks man – i guess I earn these ones in particular, thousands of km’s of chasing storms and you get rewarded through patience, knowledge and persistance. 🙂

      keep at it !

  4. This is great Tony, I like the 3 lightning bolts but also really like the way the clouds are illuminated and the cars are great for leading lines!

    • hi Flem !
yeah it’s like everything is centred around something critical in the meeting point !

      cheers,

  5. Nice work mate, all elements worked nicely for you here. Great shot

    • Thanks AB 🙂 yeah years of chasing and thousands of km’s earns a bit of luck every now and then 🙂
      cheers,

  6. Another great storm image Tony!

  7. awesome Tony, love it how like you say all the lines of light converge to the same central point. also really like how you have set up the composition so the head/taillights are coming right out of the corner..nice!..one thing i might do would be to darker the sky in the top left to really get ppl looking at the converging lines. Top image!

    • Hey Matthew, Glad you like this one so much mate. I know what you are getting at, and I think the shot needs all the natural light it can get. In fact the shot is pretty the RAW the way it is, just cropped a bit… which is sweet I reckon 🙂

      cheers,
      tone 🙂

  8. Crackalaka mate!

Still yet to tick the lightning box in my portfolio!!

    • hey Mark, I’m sure it won’t take long at the rate you get about and shoot 🙂

  9. Excellent work Tony. Brilliant shot.

  10. An eye catcher.. – A lovely depiction!

    • Welcome to the blog MissIvy – thanks for stopping by with your wonderful comments. Eye catcher is a great description, at the time I was thinking along the lines of ‘Close encounters of the 3rd kind’

      *insert eeerie music*

      cheers, 🙂

      • (HA!) forget about that “*insert eeerie music*”.. “the power of mother-earth-nature ROARS”.. keep shining:)
